Internet freedom in Russia is an important battleground, especially after Vladimir Putin鈥檚 recent attempts to create a 鈥渟overeign internet鈥 that is overseen by the government. But civil society continues to challenge such attempts. Leonid Volkov, founder of the Internet Protection Society and an IT-expert with over twenty years of professional experience, reflected on the Kremlin鈥檚 latest attempts on putting the 鈥淩unet鈥 under its control and why he remains optimistic about the Runet鈥檚 future.
